BYLI holds training for student leaders of Pandan, Antiqueo.
Led by Teri Joe Pretta, Borres Youth Leadership Institute, Inc. held a two-day basic leadership training and team building course for the 46 junior and senior high school student leaders of Pandan Bay Institute, Pandan, Antique last July 29-30, 2017.
The training was focused in self-discovery, values formation and team building followed by plenary processing per activity.
BYLI’s modules were carefully structured to cater the various responses of the students every processing session. During the expectation check and getting-to-know activity, BYLI facilitators helped prepare the students to let go of their baggage that may hinder them from making the most out of the training.
The Great Discover activity, led by Chrishel Bendicio, one of the facilitators, aimed to instill to the students the value of self-leadership and how vital it is in the process of leading other people. For their values formation, BYLI prepared a series of activities that involve the use of physical strength, critical thinking, mental alertness and social skills.
The first day capped off with a mirroring activity that got students to share their impressions of each other and understand how various their perceptions with each other are. BYLI shared to them the leadership principle that in an organization, interaction is vital to clarify issues and check relationships in order to achieve effective communication.
Interactive activities and in-depth processing filled the last day of their training. According to Bendicio, the student participants were very active till the second day. “They coordinate with each other. They seem to know each other despite of the diversity in year levels,” she said.
At the end of the final processing, some participants shared their insights and expressed their gratitude to the trainers from BYLI. Other facilitators include Angelie Magcanam and Sabrina McCoy Villaruz who have also been with BYLI through many projects, programs and leadership trainings.
